Winter tires should not be used in another season than winter as they are made up of specific rubber compounds to endure temperatures below freezing. Both studded and non-studded winter tires are made up of the same rubber compound, which is not adapted for temperatures above 45 degrees Fahrenheit. On the other hand, all-weather tires hold the same severe snow service rating as winter tires but are made up of different rubber compounds set to function in a wider temperature range and can thereby be used beyond winter.
