Key objectives

 IRCC assumes to make further amendments and updates in the next 12 months
 IRCC has not set any limit to the number of language testing providers, causing the IRCC 
to make improvements. 
 There  are  currently  only  four  designated  organizations  for  language 
testing; IELTS and CELPIP for English, then TEF and TCF for French.
 IRCC intends to give scores on an alpha-numeric scale such as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and 
C2 instead of Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) scores. 
 
IRCC said  that despite  the pandemic and challenges during  the  lockdown,  the designated 
language  test  providers  continued  their  efforts  to  meet  the  demands  of  immigration 
applications.  However,  as  the  need  for  Canadian immigration  continues  to  surge  among 
applicants,  IRCC  is  looking  for  further  improvements  in  the  process  that  allows  an 
organization to become an approved language test provider.

IRCC  has  said  that  the  change  will  allow  more  organizations  to  become  designated  language  test 
providers. The authority also said that it will work on determining well-defined roles and responsibilities 
of  language  tests.  The  language  designation  department  at  IRCC will work  on  new policies  to make 
things more streamlined and manageable.

While  applying  for  citizenship  in  Canada,  applicants  between  18  and  54 must  show English  or  French  language
