History of Chanakya and His Principles. Introduction • Chanakya was born 371 BC. • Chanakya has been traditionally identified as Kautilya or Vishnugupta. Relation with Maurya Empire • Chanakya devoted his life to framing the Maurya Empire and managing its pioneer— Chandragupta Maurya and his child, Bindusara.
