History of Chanakya and His Principles. Introduction • Chanakya was born 371 BC. • Chanakya has been traditionally identified as Kautilya or Vishnugupta. Relation with Maurya Empire • Chanakya devoted his life to framing the Maurya Empire and managing its pioneer— Chandragupta Maurya and his child, Bindusara. Parents • Father: Rishi Canak or Chanin • Mother: Chanesvari Principle – 1 (Vasudha-Eva-Kutumbakam) • His principles mention about treating the whole world as a single unit. • His beliefs are based on making relations with outer world where we live in. Principle – 2 (Dedication) • When you decide to hold on to a decision to make something to be done, you have to give your all focus to the same task. • The second principle talks about “Dedication”. Principle – 3 (Ethical Profits) • This was the key financial target which the King needed to watch among his subjects as well as for himself. • In Chapter 7 of Arthashastra he notes "Not damaging uprightness and economy, he will make the most of his wants. Principle – 4 (Trust) • This principle states, not to share secrets with anyone. • Because, some other day, that person can take advantage of this.
