What is Quantum Internet and how it is helping us in the future.

WHAT IS QUANTUM INTERNET AND HOW IT IS HELPING US IN THE FUTURE? INTRODUCTION  The quantum internet is a network that will allow quantum devices to share any knowledge in an atmosphere that harnesses the peculiar laws of quantum mechanics.  In principle, this will offer unparalleled capabilities to the quantum internet that can not be carried out with today's web applications. Source: www.zdnet.com SECURITY  The security of most traditional communication today is based on an algorithm for generating keys that are challenging, though not impossible, for hackers to crack.  That is why researchers are looking at making this "quantum" communication method. Source: www.theconversation.com QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION (QKD)  The principle is at the centre of an evolving cryptography field called quantum key distribution (QKD).  By encoding the cryptography key into qubits, QKD operates by making one of the two parties encrypt a piece of classical info. Source: www.zdnet.com WHY A QUANTUM INTERNET?  At the moment, the usual way of generating QKD consists of transmitting qubits through optical-fiber cables in a one-directional way to the receiver; but those greatly reduce the protocol's efficacy.  In a fiber-optic cable, qubits can quickly get misplaced or distributed, which means that quantum signals are very vulnerable to error and fail to travel long distances. Source: www.zdnet.com HOW DOES ENTANGLEMENT WORK?  By contrast, the very principle of teleportation involves the absence of a physical network that bridges communication devices.  But it remains that in the first place, and then preserved, entanglement needs to be established. Source: www.zmescience.com WHAT ELSE COULD WE DO WITH THE QUANTUM INTERNET?  To link to the quantum internet, researchers would not require a particularly powerful piece of quantum hardware-in fact, even a single-qubit processor might do the job.  But scientists hope that they will build a quantum supercomputer to overshadow them all by linking together quantum machines. Source: www.zdnet.com WHAT COULDN'T WE DO WITH THE QUANTUM INTERNET?  The quantum internet will not for the near future and can be used to share data like the way we usually do on our laptops.  It will take predicting a few decades or more of technical developments to envision a generalised, mainstream quantum internet.
