One is Hans Wilsdorf and second is Alfred Davis. The company started in 1905 in London. History At the time of Swiss movements, manufacturers sold their wristwatches to jewelers and then jewelers sell those watches with their name to customers. Wilsdorf and Davis watches have the mark of “W&D” inside. Rolex “Rolex” name comes in the market in 1908. A Rolex name is registered by the Wilsdorf as a trademark and starts an office in Switzerland but the company name as Rolex registered on 15 November 1915. Origin of Rolex Rolex word came from French phrase. Wilsdorf wants an easy name which is easily pronounced by everyone. Changes Wilsdorf was suffering from high manufacturing cost. Gold and silver used in the manufacturing of the watch because of high cost, Wilsdorf shifted to Switzerland. He started a company as Rolex watch company later name change into Montres Rolex and finally known as Rolex SA. Wilsdorf foundation After the death of Wilsdrof’s wife, Wilsdorf started a foundation name as Wilsdorf foundation. He started this foundation to do charity and after the death of Wilsdorf in 1960, this foundation is the owner of Rolex SA. Products Rolex SA has many products like:- • Air-king. • Cellini. • Day-Date. • Datejust. • Datejust II. • Daytona. • Explorer. • GMT-Master. • And many more. Revenue According to the report of 2016, revenue of the Rolex SA was $4.7 billion and 2,800 employees are working in Rolex SA. Thank You
