LATEST LAWS BY INDIAN GOVERNMENT Introduction •In recent parliament sessions, the NDA government successfully passed bills on various issues and made laws/acts on it. •Some of them are listed below. The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 •Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Law and Justice Minister introduced the bill, to protect the rights of Muslim women against the triple talaq. •Recently, the Indian government makes a law called The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019. •The act is about to save the rights of Muslim women against triple talaq. All forms of triple talaq including electronic as well as written are made illegal. •As per the Indian constitution- Basic rights all Indians have the right to equality, and triple talaq was an injustice to Muslim women. www.indiatoday.in Penalties- •Imprisonment up to three years. •Also, some fine can be collected from a man who pronounces talaq without legal procedure. www.bbc.com •This law surely a good step to save the equality rights of Muslim women. The Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, 2019 •Ms. Nirmala Sitaraman introduced the bill related to the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes. •The bill is passed, and Indian government make act on it. •A law to ban unregulated deposit schemes, for this purpose a comprehensive method has been declared. •To motto behind this law is to protect the interests of depositors. For the following three reasons offenses can be made: •For supporting/advertising unregulated deposit schemes. •Dishonestly defaulting on regulated deposit schemes. •Providing wrong information about unregulated schemes and fraud the depositors. •Penalties- Jail from five to 10 years plus a fine from Rs 10 lakh to five crores. The Central Educational Institutions (Reservations in Teachers Cadre) Act, 2019 •HRD minister Mr. Ramesh P. Nishank introduced this bill in parliament and after passing the bill, the Indian government gave it legislative protection. •The law provides reservations for teaching positions via direct recruitment to the applicant belongs to SC, ST, SEBC (Socially and educationally backward classes), and other economically weaker sections. •Note that law is only applicable for central institutions (Institutions of university level, national importance, and central government-aided institutions). •Institutions of research, minority educational institutions are excluded. www.scconline.com The New Delhi International Arbitration Centre Act, 2019 •Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Law and Justice Minister introduced the bill. •After successfully passing at parliament, an Indian government makes the law and gives it legislative protection. •Its law is for the management of arbitration in India with the help of autonomous independent institution. • to establish an autonomous and independent institution for better management of arbitration in India.
