Initiation of Nobel prize
On 27 November 1895, Alfred Nobel signed his last will
and testament, giving the largest share of his fortune -
more than SEK 31 million to be converted into a fund
and invested in "safe securities."
The income from the investments was to be
"distributed annually in the form of prizes to those who
during the preceding year have conferred the greatest
benefit to mankind."

Intention for Nobel Peace Prize
The will Alfred Nobel made in 1895 was inspired by
belief in the community of man.
The Peace Prize was to be awarded to the person who
had done most for "fraternity between nations, for the
abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the
holding and promotion of peace congresses".
