Skills that we can learn during Lockdown Learn a foreign language • Not every country is English savvy and so the first skill suggestion is to learn a foreign language. If it’s the famous Seoul palaces you plan to explore, buy yourself an online course on basic Korean; if you want to live in beautiful France, sign up for some basic French lessons and Japanese skills if you are fond of anime and their unique culture. Source: Google Images Learn to cook • Start off with easy YouTube recipes and ask your family to help you out. Learn making daily essentials like rice, roti, dal and vegetable curries. The adventurous ones can also experiment with exotic pancake breakfasts, flavourful fried rice lunches and easy-to-do delicious snacks. You won’t have to rely on restaurants all the time! Source: Google Images Dance the boredom away • While swaying and shaking is something you must have definitely done in nightclubs, you can polish your skills further and learn an actual ballroom dance-form. Subscribe to popular dance channels and learn the basics of Bachata, tear across your drawing rooms while doing the Tango, waltz and Quickstep. If you stay solo, then the International Latin Samba is just perfect for you. Watercolors, oil-paints and chalks can all be found for little expense online, and are also a useful lesson to incorporate into home-schooling and keep kids of all ages occupied. If all else fails, grab a coloring book. Once you’ve started shooting, sign up for Adobe Creative Cloud, you can have access to Photoshop and InDesign, along with other editing tools and access to Adobe tutorials in 20-minute video segments for you to follow along to. Coding is one skill you must have in the future. While there are many makeup schools online, the best place we’d recommend is YouTube. Everything is free and there’s no shortage of experts to watch. There’s also the big YouTube makeup stars, who have hours of videos to binge on that will help pass the time, while you pick up a few tips along the way. Knitting is also a simple skill that can be mastered while you relax on the sofa, you can learn new techniques and seasonal designs such as Father’s Day gifts or egg cozies for Easter.
