The museum encompasses the Union house, the location where the emirate's founding fathers signed a declaration that marked the formation of the UAE in 1971 – it is now part of the museum complex. • There are permanent and temporary halls, a theatre, an educational area, and a recreation area at Etihad Museum Dubai, which is divided into eight pavilions. The visitors get a glimpse of the UAE’s rich heritage and life before the treaty exploring the events from 1968 to the culmination of the unification of the Emirates in 1971 through 1974. It was designed by Moriyama and Teshima Architects, a Canadian firm that has worked on The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, and Waterloo Region Museum in Kitchener, Ontario.
