Review of iQube website: languages 1) The menu to get into the resource library is not obvious at the start (ie the parallel lines at the top left). There is no way of knowing that this is the way in. I think an introductory help menu – which can be skipped at log in - would be helpful. I used to subscribe to the language websites known as spanish101, russian101 etc. This was exactly their problem. There was a lot of nice material and resources, it was just blooming difficult to know how to get there. 2) The requesting for help is interesting but for languages needs some refinement I think. I could do with a chat about how the menus look. For instance do you want help with a particular aspect of grammar, or maybe some ideas about content when doing a particular topic. Not quite sure what this would look like – might need to use some pupil guinea pigs to see it in action 3) I think there should be a warning about plagiarism in the asking for help section somewhere 4) Content library. I think there needs a subject specific menu before you get to the resource library menu. It currently goes straight to maths. 5) I wonder if there could be a page for suggesting how to use the resource library. This might be a video or a page. It could obliquely refer to learning pathways. Again, the 101 websites were very frustrating on this 6) Currently there are some issues with the options: i. Past papers option not working at all(JK: Past papers in French and Spanish subject consists audio files and pdf files. There is nothing to view in opening audio files content and preview is not available for pdf content however pdf content is viewable in maths subject) ii. The second drop down menu after the title just says “select subcategory”(JK:Subcategory dropdown does not show options until subject is selected. We need to hide subcategory option until subject is selected.) iii. When it comes to activity subcategory only the “to do” actgivity comes up. This may well be down to the initial spreadsheet which maybes I should look at and revise(JK: In the content spreadsheet of french and spanish, content type of all content is "To Do". So this is not in our hand to resolve) 7) In terms of the resource library I was wondering if we should consider something akin to what the TES does for its resources. Students/Teachers could send in files of resources they have prepared or found useful. They get reviewed by SME and there is quality control element. Once uploaded credits can be earned according to how many likes they get?
