Indian Flag in 1906

Flag had 3 color, Blue, Yellow and red. Blue strip had 8 stars on it, yellow
strip had Vande Mataram and Red had Sun and Moon on it.
In the same year, another Flag introduced Which had
three colors orange, yellow and green and known as
'Calcutta flag' or 'Lotus flag‘. The flag was designed by
Sachindra Prasad Bose and Sukumar Mitra. The flag
had 8 half open lotus.

This Flag was just like the 1906 flag, the First star was bigger than the
others, this was the only difference between the flags. the designer of this
flag was unknown.
Madam Bhikaji Rustom Cama introduced another
flag and flag was designed by her self. The flag had
3 colors three colors- topmost color was green
followed by golden saffron and the red color at the
bottom. The flag was also referred as Berlin
Committee flag‘.

In 1916, Pingali Venkayya designed a flag as a
symbol of the economic regeneration of India. A
flag was made with khaki and flag had two colors
with Charkha but Gandhiji didn’t approve that flag.

In 1917, a new flag is adopted by Bal Gangadhar
Tilak, Flag had Union Jack at the top, Five red and
Four blue strips and also contained 7 stars but the
flag didn’t gain much popularity.

As Gandhiji wanted a single flag for all communities
of India, So a new flag came in 1921, This flag had
3 colors, White, green and Red. White flag
represented minority communities of India, Green
for Muslims and Red for Hindu and Sikh
communities. A 'Charkha' was drawn across all the
strips to show a unity of all communities.

Some people were not happy with that flag even
Sikh wanted their own color, So a new flag
introduced in 1931 by Pingali Venkayya. The flag
had three colors and Charkha at the center.
Congress Committee passed the flag.

After the independence, Rajendra Prasad made a
committee to decide a suitable flag and committee
adopted 1931 flag but with a little modification, they
replaced charkha with chakra In this way we got
our national Flag.
