Indian Mount Everest climbers Indian Mount Everest climbers Love Raj Singh Dharmshaktu Love Raj Singh Dharmshaktu is an Indian mountaineer, who has climbed over 36 highest peaks of Himalayas. He is the first Indian to climb Mount Everest for seven times. For this, he was honoured by Nepal at a function organised by Adventure Sports Tourism Society in Kathmandu on 8, June 2017. He has been mountaineering for last 30 years and climbed the Mt. Everest as a part of the first Indian civilian expedition, in 1998. His second climb on the Everest was in 2006, with a team of BSF. He then led a team of NIM to Everest in 2009. In May 2012, his summit on Everest was as a member of the Eco Everest Expedition that focused on cleaning the mountain. After this, he climbed the mountain again in 2013, for the fifth time. His sixth summit on the Everest was on 27, May 2017, while leading a team of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC, India's National Oil Company) officers. In 2014, he was awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India. Picture: financialexpress.com Bachendri Pal Bachendri Pal is the first Indian woman mountaineer to summit the Mount Everest in 1984. Bachendri Pal was born on 24 May 1954 in Nakuri, Garhwal, Uttarakhand. After climbing the highest peak in the world, Bachendri Pal led many other expeditions, that included mainly the women. She led the IndoNepalese Women’s Mount Everest Expedition (1993), The Great Indian Women's Rafting Voyage (1993) and First Indian Women TransHimalayan Expedition (1997). She is also in social service and has written a book based on her first summit on Everest titled as "Everest – My Journey to the Top". She has won Padma Shri (1984), Arjuna Award (1986), and National Adventure Award (1994) from the government of India. In 1990, she got her name registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. She also recieved an honorary Doctorate from the Garhwal University in 1997. Picture: womensweb.in Avtar Singh Cheema Avtar Singh Cheema was one of the 9 Indian team members that led a successful expedition to climb the Mount Everest, on 20 May 1965, for the very first time. He was born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan in 1933. After the two failed attempts of climbing the mt. Everest, by the Indian Army, he became the a part of the third mission in 1965. It became the first successful Indian Expedition to Everest by the Indian Army, and made a record of taking 9 people on the top successfully, that lasted for 17 years. He was awarded Arjuna award and Padma Shri for his achievements. Picture: netindian.in Dicky Dolma Dicky Dolma the youngest Indain woman to climb the mount Eveerest at the age of 19, on 10 May 1993. Dolma was born on 5 April 1974 in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. In 1993, she was selected for the IndoNepal Women's Everest Expedition which was led by the first Indian woman Everest climber By Bachendri Pal. Picture: Youtube.com Kalpana Dash Kalpana Dash is the first mountanieer from Orissa to summit the mt. Everest. She was born on 7 July 1966, in Dhenkanal, Orissa. Professionally she works as a lawyer. She reached the top of the Mount Everest on 21 May 2008, as a member of a team including 5 members from United States, Canada and Nepal. She had already failed in her attempt to climb the Mount Everest twice before, in 2004 and in 2006, due to bad weather and health conditions. Picture: TelegraphIndia Mastan Babu Malli Mastan Babu Malli was born on 3 September 1974 in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. He made the record of climbing the highest peak of every continent in the shortest time period. He climbed the first peak on 19 January 2006 and the seventh on 10 July 2006. He became one of the fastest seven summiteer in the world at that time. He was the first Indian and South Asian to climb all seven summits. He died on 24 March 2015, diring his expedition to Andes mountains as he was caught in bad weather. Picture: thehansindia.com Saurabh Singh Shekhawat Colonel Saurabh Singh Shekhawat an awardie of the Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal, is one of the most decorated serving officers in the Indian Army. He reached the summit of the Mount Everest three times in 2001, 2003 and 2005. Along with the Mt. Everest, he has also climbed the highest peak oin Africa, the Kilimanjaro and the Mount Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe. He has climbed the 14 high mountains in the various parts of the world. Picture: Quora.com Ms. Santosh Yadav Santosh Yadav is an Indian mountaneer and a Padma Shri recipent, from Joniawas, Haryana. She was born in 1969. She is the only woman in the world, who has climbed the Mount Everest twice within a year. Her first climb to the summit of Mt. Everst was in May 1992, when she was just 20. She climbed the Everest along with Dicky Dolma (the youngest woman to climb Mt. Everest) and the expedition was led by the fisrt Indian women Everest climber Bachendri Pal. She is also the first woman who has climbed the Mt. Everest from Kangshung Face, successfully, in May 1993, exactly one year after her first Mt. Everest summit. Picture: Google Thank You
