Among the most ridiculous yet funny comedies of the year is one of those days. The picture, which does not mainly rely on a compelling story element, evokes the memories of early 1990s/Y2K absurdist humor. Keke Palmer is a comic powerhouse, particularly after her impressive performance in NOPE (2022). But it was SZA who caught me off guard. The typical stereotype for dumb comic relief did not apply to SZA's character Alyssa's overwhelming lack of common sense. Rather, the movie uses her to exhibit a detachedness ideal for Palmer's Dreux.
