Asbestos awareness is one of the 

most important components of safety in 

a construction site.  

 

Recently there are many asbestos-

related diseases reported in the UK 

itself. 

 

Asbestos is mainly seen in fibrous 

form. These asbestos fibers are very 

dangerous when we inhale it. 

Inhalation of asbestos fibers can cause cancers such as mesothelioma and lung cancer and 

other serious lung diseases such as asbestosis and pleural thickening.  

 

All asbestos-related diseases typically take many years to develop, So it is difficult to identify 

whether you are infected or not. So its better you consult a doctor if you are a person who is 

working with asbestos. 

 

There were 2,595 mesothelioma deaths in 2016 and is estimated that there were, in 

addition, a similar number of deaths due to asbestos-related lung cancer. 

 

 And also once they inhaled there is no known method exists to remove asbestos fibers from 

the lungs. But there are some mechanisms to remove asbestos naturally by the lungs or 

break down in the lungs, but it only depends on your luck.  

 

 

Risk control through proper asbestos awareness training 

 

Most of the workers and many other individuals are not well aware of this, which resulted in 

asbestos-related diseases. A proper asbestos awareness training will help to reduce many 

hazards up to a certain limit.

candidates with a basic awareness of the dangers associated with asbestos and the 

management and control measure required to control the health risks.

● Can be  aware of the precautions to take before working on the fabric of a building; 

● Can be aware of what to do if they discover or disturb asbestos. 
 

You can prevent asbestos-related diseases by taking an awareness course and by limiting 

your exposure to asbestos fibers. If you are the person who works with asbestos, make sure 

to follow workplace rules for handling it. For example, make sure that air levels are 

measured properly, and wear a proper respirator to avoid breathing in asbestos fibers.
