Sasan Gir is located 43 km north-east of Somnath, 65 km south-east of Junagadh and 60 km South-West of Amreli. 1. SASAN GIR NATIONAL PARK The Gir National Park is open from October onwards till June & The Devaliya Safari Park (Gir Interpretation Zone) is open throughout the year. The Gir National Park is the very Popular Sightseeing of Sasan-Gir. This park was inaugurated in 1965 and it spreads over an area of around 1415 sq. km. It is very famous for its population of Asiatic lions and the safest protection area for these Lions. Entry time of the park is from 6.00 am to 11.00 am in the morning and from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm in the afternoon. Safaris in Gir National Park are conducted thrice a day: 6:30am to 12:30pm 3:30pm to 6:30pm Closed on Wednesday. 2. NALSAROVAR LAKE Nalsarovar Lake is one of the three reservoirs that flank the area of Sasan-Gir. It is home to several water birds and migratory birds due to which it is also known as a heaven for Birdwatcher. There are the most popular different types of Birds like Woodpecker, back-headed cuckoo etc. you can see at Nalsarovar Lake. There is also a small temple of Lord Krishna near this lake. 3. KAMLESHWAR DAM Near the Gir National Park, one can Seven rivers draining. There are seven rivers that met where were to be the dams. This dam is lifeline of the Sasan-Gir. It is free to Visit. The best time to visit this dam is Morning and Evening. Camera and Videography allowed at this Place. You can Spend 30-Minutes to 1 hour there. Many resorts are available near the Dam. 4. JUNAGADH ZOO (SAKKARBAUG ZOO) Junagadh Zoo is also known as Sakkarbaug Zoo. There are 1200+ animals in this Zoo. It is not free for Visit. There is a ticket for Children and Adults. If you are Going with Camera then you have to pay extra fees for that. Every Wednesday it was Closed so, plan according to that. There are many animals that are in this Zoo. This Zoo is Special known for Asiatic Lion. There are also tiger and other wild animals are there. 5. UPARKOT FORT Uparkot Fort is One of the historical places of Junagadh. Uparkot fort was built by the King Chandragupt Maurya. It’s Pillar’s height is 20 meters. In the entrance of the fort, there are Uparkot’s former rulers and temples to Ganesh, Hanuman, and Shakti. There is also a 300 ft.-deep moat inside the walls, that reportedly wont to be inhabited by crocodiles, in order that if any attacker managed to surmount the high fortifications, they might then either be exposed on the upper battlements or fall under the crocodile-infested trench. DARBAR HALL MUSEUM Darbar Hall Museum is located at Diwan Chowk. In this museum, you can see rarest items of Nawabs. A Collection of silver items, jewellery, paintings and Gowns in this Museum. It is closed at Every Wednesday. There are different fees for Indians and foreigners. You can spend 1 to 3 hours to visit the Museum. 7. MAHABAT MAQBARA Mahabat Maqbara’s constructions began in 1878 by Mahabat Khanji and completed in 1892 by his son Bahudar Khanji. The monument’s seen a perplexing mixture of Indo-Islamic and architecture makes sense in the larger context of the history of Junagadh. It is very near to Junagadh Railway Station. You can find there stay night Facilities at Temple. There are three streams in Tulsi Shyam Springs. It is believed to a dip in the springs can cure Skin diseases. JATASHANKAR MAHADEV This Place Famous for the Temple of Lord Shiva’s Shivalinga which is naturally bathed by itself and water falling on the idol itself. It is located on the rear side of Girnar Hill in Junagadh, Gujarat. In monsoon season it was a very beautiful Season to visit Jatashankar. It is small type of trekking also because there are 450 to 500 steps to reach the Jatashankar temple. A waterfall is also there so you can spend a minimum 1-2 hours at there. Timing: 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Entry Fees: Free 10. WILLINGDON DAM It was built on river Kalwa at the foot of the hill. It was named after Lord Willingdon, then Governor of India. You have to up climb the steps (850 m) for reach to Willingdon Dam. The dam is strategically built on hills with three sides of the valley in between. GURU DATTATREYA PADUKA TEMPLE Lord Dattatreya is the idol of 3 Lords, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva together. The Climb up to the highest point of the mountains which is a temple, it some difficult and takes around 4 hours one way. It has around 5000 steps for Ambaji temple & lots more temple for Dattatreya Temple so, Take more and more water as you can because you don’t get anything on the top of Hill. Safety: It also includes part of trekking through a forest. Please very careful if you travel with children. At the top, you can see the view of the forests and neighboring hills.
