H • The world has experienced a most destructive
wildfire season, with burning record 47 million
hectares, displacing thousands of people and killing
at least 34 people since December 2019.
• The culmination of the bushfire season 2019-20 is

• Early on May 7, a gas leak was created by an LG
Polymers plant in the town of Vishakhapatnam that
killed twelve people and drowned hundreds in the
city.
• The plant has been working against environmental
standards for over 20 years and has been highly
attacked since this incident.

• Between 16 May and 21 May 2020, Cyclone
Amphan struck East India and parts of Bangladesh.
• A Category 5 hurricane, Amphan left at least 98
dead in India and many more injured.
• During this tragedy, many lost their homes and
families.

• Desert locusts are a collection of shorts that swarm
fields and cause crop infestations.
• On 13 May, they came to India via Rajasthan before
being afraid to disperse in 18 regions, including
