At Stanford, Page teamed up with grad 
school buddy Sergey Brin and created a 
search engine Google in the year 1998, 
which listed results as per the popularity of 
the pages. Since founding, Google has 
grown as the world's most popular search 
engine.

Larry's childhood was full of computers and 
science magazines, and that developed his 
enchantment for technology at an early age. 
Page is also the co-inventor of PageRank, a 
renowned search ranking algorithm for 
Google, which he wrote with Brin.

Lawrence Page was born on March 26, 1973, 
in East Lansing, Michigan US. Both his 
parents were computer science professors. 
His father, Carl Page, was a pioneer in 
computer science and AI, and his mother 
was in computer programming.

EDUCATION
Page did his graduation from East Lansing 
High School in 1991 and pursued a 
bachelor's degree in computer engineering 
from the University of Michigan. Later, he 
enrolled for his Master of Science in 
computer science in Stanford University.

PERSONAL LIFE
In 2007, Page got married to Lucinda 
Southworth, who is a research scientist on 
Necker Island. Southworth is also the sister 
of American actress and model, Carrie 
Southworth. The couple have two children.

FOUNDING AND GROWTH 
OF GOOGLE
In 1995, during his Ph.D. at Stanford, Page 
met fellow researcher Sergey Brin when he 
was working on a research project. And, 
they had had come up with a search engine 
named as 'BackRub' by 1996.

INVENTION OF GOOGLE
In 2005, the company launched Google Maps, 
Blogger Mobile, Google Reader, and iGoogle. 
In 2006, Google acquired Youtube and brought 
the chat feature in Gmail. 
In 2007, Google entered into a partnership with 
China Mobile and Salesforce.com. 
In 2008, they launched Google Sites and a new 
version of Google Earth.

• In 2002, Page was listed in the MIT Technology 
Review TR100 with Brin for being among the top 
100 innovators in the world under the age of 35.
• In 2002, he was selected as a Global Leader by the 
World Economic Forum for Tomorrow.
• Page has been awarded with the prestigious 
Marconi Foundation Prize with Brin for their 
meaningful contributions in science and 
technology.
• In 2008 he was presented the Communication 
Award by King Felipe at the Princess of Asturias 
Awards on behalf of Google.

"Businessperson of the Year," declaring him "the 
world's most daring".
• In 2015, Forbes named Page as number one in 
"America's Most Popular Chief Executives", 
according to the employees' voting.
